The Asian Range Strategy: How to Catch the London Expansion
Stop guessing direction. Use the Asian Session consolidation to predict the explosive London Open move.
The Accumulation Phase
The market moves in cycles: Accumulation ➔ Manipulation ➔ Distribution. The Asian Session (Tokyo) is often the Accumulation phase.
The Strategy Steps
- Define the Range: Mark the High and Low of price action between 19:00 EST and 00:00 EST.
- Wait for 02:00 - 03:00 EST (Frankfurt/London Open).
- Look for the Sweep:
- Price will often break out of the Asian High or Low to "sweep liquidity" (The Manipulation).
- Enter the Reversal:
- If successful, price will reject closely back into the range.
- Target: The opposite side of the range.
Why it Works
Banks use the quiet Asian hours to build positions. The "fakeout" at London Open triggers retail stop losses, providing the fuel for the real move of the day.
Pro Tip: This strategy works best on EURUSD and GBPUSD.
